Pilgrim's Enjoyment

Posada San Pelayo is located in the middle of the Liébana, in the route of Camino de Santiago, surrounded by mountains and beautiful landscapes for the delight of the pilgrim.

The rugged terrain of Picos de Europa and Cantabric Mountains geographically delimit the Liébana Valley and condition access to Santo Toribio from the neighbouring regions of Asturias and Castilla y León. Despite this, there are abundant historical references to the existence of four main pilgrimage routes to the Monastery of Santo Toribio. Recently signposted as PR (Rutas de Pequeño Recorrido) within the Liébana Footpath, these paths follow different routes depending on the area of origin:

A route through natural landscapes

El Camino Lebaniego runs between San Vicente de la Barquera and Monastery of Santo Toribio, crossing the municipalities of San Vicente de la Barquera, Val de San Vicente, Herrerías, Lamasón, Peñarrubia, Cillorigo, Potes and Camaleño. It offers pilgrims a route through natural landscapes of great beauty, punctuated by some of the most important examples of the architectural heritage of Cantabria.
